The Aeronaut’s Windlass (The Cinder Spires Book 1) – Jim Butcher (9.8/10)

Jim Butcher’s new series started with a bang. A disgraced navy officer, in charge of his own privateer. Towering spire cities filled to the brim with humanity, permanently in a state of conflict. Noble families, Etherealists, guardsmen, you name it, Jim Butcher has it in spades in his latest novel.

My only issue with the book is that I have to wait for number 2 in the series.

The characterisations are deep, vibrant and resonate with life. Each has a history, scope and focus and are richly woven within the story and to the world where they live.

Loved the book. Grabbed me from the first page.
