For those of us afflicted with the love industrial railways, especially of the steam variety, this book is a real gem. Covering the railways of the Beckton Gas Works and the Outfall and Sewage works this covers every known locomotive running on the two systems over 100 years from 1870 to 1970.
Filled with mainly black and white photos of most of the locomotives to run on the line and with accompanying notes this is a piece of eye-candy for the modeller and historian, especially those of us living in the far off colonies.
A recent book from 2015 if needed it is still certainly available on the new and second-hand market as of writing. Included is a description of the Gas Works railway (sadly not as detailed as I’d have liked) showing the basic track layout and the interconnections with the Outfall and Sewage works railway also.
Very much worth the read.
