British Railway Coaching Stock in Colour – Robert Hendry (8.5/10)

Another in the series of the ‘For the Modeller and Historian’ books produced by Ian Allan Ltd this volume’s focus is on the coaching stock in BR use since 1960. What I liked the most was the focus on all coaching stock including DMU’s and EMU’s as well as loco hauled stock during that period.

As mentioned about the last volume, for those of us living remotely and interested in the history of and the modelling of British Rail during this period these books are invaluable, if not a single source reference, of the subject. What they show however, is the scene from 1960 through 2006 through the eyes of fellow enthusiasts.

There’s also coverage of the Irish broad gauge systems that are of interest. Colour photos are well-printed with correct to my eyes at least, and of great use to the modeller. Available new and used.
