British Railway Infrastructure in Colour – Robert Hendry (6/10)

Another in the series of the ‘For the Modeller and Historian’ books produced by Ian Allan Ltd this volume’s focus is on ‘Infrastructure’. Of all the volumes I’ve read thus far this perhaps the most difficult to enjoy and classify.

Subjects seemed to wander far and wide, and I’d rather have seen greater focus on infrastructure as I know it –  the signalling electrical boxes, line side fixtures, signal boxes, level crossing gates and apparatus, and so on.

Unfortunately it feels as though Messrs Ian Allan had a box full of unused photos lying about and decided to create a book with them. My opinion I know, yet there it is. There are some truly unique and wonderful photographs in the book. It is just that you have to wade through so much to see them that annoyed me.
